“Due to unplanned labour unrest, the Gautrain bus service is temporarily suspended until further notice. Management is engaging with drivers to resume the service before the start of the peak period this afternoon. We will keep you updated in this regard,” Gautrain said on their Twitter feed.
Gautrain management urged commuters to make alternate transport arrangements. They said they would give further updates around midday today when it is clear what the workers demands are.
Gautrain spokesperson Kesagee Nayager said, “At this stage we’re not clear as to what the actual cause of this is but what we can confirm is that we’re currently engaging with the union reps to determine what the actual demands are.”
