Metro road safety campaign goes to Mamelodi

The Tshwane metro and national government will host a campaign today in efforts to make roads safer in the city of Tshwane.

Tshwane Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for transport, Sheila Lynn Senkubuge and Deputy Minister of Transport Sindisiwe Chikunga will be promoting Road Safety Drive and Pedestrian Walk to create driver and pedestrian safety awareness.

Other partners in the campaign include the Road Accident Fund, Road Traffic Management Corporation, Sanral, Gauteng department of transport, Collation of Towing Association of SA and Ford ST Club.

The roadshow, comprising a convoy of approximately 150 cars, will campaign from Centurion to Mamelodi where the leaders will interact with motorists and pedestrians on road safety.

The initiative forms part of the metro’s road safety campaign TshwAlert to raise the awareness of the risky behaviour on the road to promote the safe use of city roads.

The gathering point will be Mamelodi West near HM Pitje stadium.
