New Daimler dealership in Rustenburg

Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA), through its Daimler Trucks & Buses and Mercedes-Benz Vans division, has officially opened a modern commercial vehicles dealership in Rustenburg.

The dealership, Maemo Motors, offers comprehensive sales and after-sales service for Daimler Trucks & Buses’ (DT&B) Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Vans and Buses, as well as FUSO Trucks.

“The North-West province is known for its mining activities and we are anchoring the newly-inaugurated Maemo Motors as the foremost commercial vehicles dealership to support this function. DT&B vehicles are firmly established in this region, and this step will further ensure we remain leaders. As DT&B as well as our dealer, this is our way of confirming our confidence in the local industries and the long-term economic outlook in this particular region” said Kobus van Zyl, Executive Director of Daimler Trucks & Buses (DT&B), Southern Africa, during the official opening on July 1.

“As DT&B, we are preparing for a period of growth and continue to strengthen our presence, not only in this region but also in the whole of southern Africa. This R52 million investment represents the ongoing pursuit for DT&B to be the benchmark commercial vehicle solutions provider that makes a real difference in the lives of our stakeholders,” he noted.

Maemo Motors is situated just outside of Rustenburg’s main Central Business District, with easy access to the N4, which many cross-border logistics companies use to transport freight to and from South Africa’s neighbouring countries.

The modern design incorporates a “tri-star” layout concept, allowing the customer to have views inside the building into the showroom, workshop and parts storage areas. The large showroom is able to display three units inside and a further eight outside.

With a number of the mining houses and other related industries being situated in Rustenburg, there are thousands of employees who are in constant need of transportation, and with this in mind, the facility is specially designed to focus on buses.

Located on a site that is 18554m2 and a building totalling 3582m2, Maemo Motors boasts 14 work bays and an impressive parts Distributed National Inventory (DNI) store with a total of 940m2 in space. Customers are also set to enjoy a bistro, while the sales and the after-sales team will occupy the administrative block.

In addition, Maemo Motors has taken into account the environment and incorporates a number of “green building” features such as solar panel power generation; Borehole water utilisation; motion-sensing lighting; natural light optimisation and low-water-use gardens.
